Here is superb Biblical fiction (A.D. 106) that captures the imagination and drags you through a story line that will tantalize, delight and even raise the hair on your neck a time or two. Here's a story of a young heroine (Cassia) trapped in an abusive marriage, forced to lie, cheat and steal to keep her husband in booze.Petra, City of Stone (I hope that doesn't sound too familiar.) When she manages to escape, to Petra, she taken advantage of and left on the street to die. But, and this is the beginning of the good news, she is discovered and whisked away to the home of a believer who's family and friends nurture her back to health. Chapter 6 lets you re-experience the 45 minute walk from the current city down the siq into the ancient city and beyond...what a wonderful way to get to revisit such a magical place. I enjoyed the historical information in this book as much as I enjoyed the inspiring story line. I believe I have read everything the T.L. Higley has written and enjoyed them all, but this one was my favorite. I rarely reread a book but I will reread this one. ( Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2013 )

Her books all have ancient settings, which makes them particularly appealing to me. And I like the fact that her settings are varied -- Babylon, Rhodes, Egypt, Alexandria, Petra -- and not the same old "usual" settings for ancient Christian fiction of Rome and/or Judea.
